Guide to Fertility

One of the signs of a living thing is that it reproduces. The age old concern for couples was how to limit fertility, to prevent having 15 kids. But now, we are living in such a toxic world that this basic life function is elusive for some couples. The food, water, and air is becoming progressively more poisoned, starting in the last 100 years, and coming to head in the last 30 years.

Herbal medicine was the main healing modality since the beginning of time until 100 years ago. The Flexner report in 1910, backed by the Carnegie Foundation, created the current monopoly of medicine in the US to only medical doctors (synthetic pills and surgery). X-ray machines started to be used in mainstream medicine about 100 years ago. By the 1920s, X-ray machines were a standard tool in advanced dental offices. Food became processed about 100 years ago. By the 1900s, processed foods became a staple in Western diets, driven by urbanization, technological advances, and demand for convenience. Vaxxines for diseases like diphtheria (1923), pertussis (1926), and polio (1955) were introduced, with mass vaxxination programs expanding after World War II.

Vaxxines (which contain huge amounts of aluminum and some mercury) have tripled since 1991, with 75 vaxxines given to children by 8 age in the US. GMO was introduced in the US in 1994, without any warning or labeling. Significant increase of glyphosate started after the introduction of genetically engineered glyphosate-resistant crops in 1996, so farmers could douse crops with massive amounts of poisonous glyphosate without the crops dying themselves.

Your average modern day woman with silver dental fillings and root canals who puts on makeup, sunscreen, and perfume before going to work in an office where the windows are closed and there are chemical scents from cleansers and air fresheners, wears polyester clothing that were also dry cleaned, eats pizza for lunch or a commercial bread sandwich or even a conventionally grown vegetable salad, drinks tap water stored in a plastic bottle or worse Diet Coke containing aspartame, can think she is doing normal activities… But every single one of these lifestyle and environmental details listed block fertility (and cause disease). How much toxic overload can a person handle before the body can’t function optimally? Every person’s threshold is different to how much nutritional deficiency and toxins the body can handle before it affects fertility, becomes an autoimmune disorder, chronic fatigue, brain fog, or fibromyalgia. Since the body is always trying to move towards healing, a person should make health improvements so the body can be unblocked to be able to conceive easily and naturally.

I have personally seen clients who were having trouble conceiving naturally, make health improvements and were able to have children without any intervention.

Main causes of infertility

the pill and all other forms of hormonal contraception (Side effects include nutrient deficiencies (b6, b12, vitamin C, folate, magnesium, zinc, selenium, vitamin D) by affecting nutrient absorption, metabolism, or excretion. These effects stem from the synthetic hormones’ impact on liver function, gut health, and hormonal balance. Hormonal contraception can also cause mood swings, irritability, anxiety, or depression, headaches/ migraines, weight gain, libido changes possibly due to reduced testosterone levels, blood clot/ heart attack/ stroke risk, and breast and cervical cancer risk.)

glyphosate sprayed on non organic food

gmo seeds in food

emf emitting cell phone in pocket or laptop on lap

disrupted sleep affects hormones

silver dental fillings (amalgams) which are half mercury and leach mercury into the body with every bite of hot and cold food

root canals which are teeth that were killed by a dentist by removing the blood and nerve supply of the tooth and filling it with toxins and a cap that is too strong for the opposing tooth. A dead tooth in the body can cause a huge range of extremely serious diseases.

phthalates in plastics that come into contact with food and drinking water

toxic cookware like nonstick (pfas) and aluminum

endocrine disruptors in most household cleaning products, body products, cosmetics, air fresheners, composite dental fillings

vaxxinations since they contain mercury and massive amounts of aluminum

tap water which contains fluoride, heavy metals, pfas, microplastics, and tens of other toxins

processed foods contains so many chemicals (many unlisted) which cause health problems, including infertility

lack of b vitamins which is found in the germ of the grain.

xenoestrogens are synthetic or natural compounds that mimic estrogen in the body, disrupting hormonal balance. Xenoestrogens mimic estrogen by binding to estrogen receptors in the body, triggering similar biological responses or disrupting normal hormonal signaling. Xenoestrogens have chemical structures resembling estrogen (e.g., estradiol). This allows them to fit into estrogen receptor sites like a key in a lock. Xenoestrogens are found in various products and foods people commonly use or consume.

radiation and dental x-rays (the thyroid is in the neck)

PCOS and endometriosis (reversible with lifestyle changes and detox)

high cortisol from inflammation, autoimmune disease, or high stress can cause ovulatory issues and infertility

low thyroid from heavy metal toxicity (vaxxines, silver filings, dental xrays)

certain medications or insufficient nutrients can cause infertility, miscarriage, pregnancy complications

hypothyroidism can cause infertility, fibroids, miscarriage (reversible with lifestyle changes and detox)

insulin resistance, adrenal disorders (reversible with lifestyle changes and detox)

Fertility health guide

heavy metal detox

eat anti-inflammatory foods like the fresh roots of turmeric and ginger, avocado, berries, matcha green tea

B vitamins (found in the germ from flour you mill yourself) and eat a healing bread

eat foods that contain magnesium and zinc (not supplements)

herbs like vitex, nettle, rhodiola, ashwagandha

remove unfermented gluten, processed dairy, processed sugar, and processed food from the diet, these contribute to leaky gut and disease

drink enough filtered water daily (half one’s body weight in fluid ounces, for example, 70 ounces of water is needed for a 140 lb woman). A reverse osmosis water filter can take heavy metals and fluoride out of the water.

10-15 minutes minimum of sunlight daily and no sunscreen (which is toxic)

eating prebiotics like berries (recommend eaten pureed to avoid bug concerns), oats, garlic, dandelion greens

eat homemade fermented veg daily

drink essiac tea from genuineessiac.com which is a blend of 8 herbs that clean the liver and the blood

for women with low thyroid, small amounts of iodine seaweeds like dulse and bladderwrack

selenium (2- 3 Brazil nuts per day/ nuts need to be soaked before use)

omega 3 fatty acids (good non toxic sources are flax seeds, chia seeds, hemp seeds, walnuts, small fish like anchovies and sardines) for menstrual cycle health and egg quality

limit emfs from cell phones and wifi

remove silver fillings with an IOAMT.org certified dentists without doing xrays or removing more tooth material (so called ‘decay’)

remove root canal teeth with the ligament attached to the root, don’t do an implant, use a completely removeable denture device if needed instead

get rid of all toxic body and personal products.

use only glass, cast iron, or stainless steel cookware

soak grains, beans, nuts, seeds before use to allow for nutrient absorption. There are plant parts that protect the plant from animals that can block nutrient absorption unless they are soaked first. Soaking times chart here.

reduce xenoestrogen exposure. Xenoestrogens in Products- Bisphenol A (BPA): Found in plastic containers, water bottles, and can linings, Phthalates: Used in flexible plastics, cosmetics, nail polish, and personal care products like lotions and perfumes. Parabens: Preservatives in cosmetics, shampoos, and conditioners (e.g., methylparaben, propylparaben). Nonylphenols: In detergents, cleaning products, and some pesticides. Xenoestrogens in Food- Phytoestrogens (Natural Xenoestrogens): Soy Products: Tofu, soy milk, and edamame contain isoflavones (e.g., genistein) that mimic estrogen. Processed Foods: Additives like propyl gallate (a preservative) may have weak estrogenic effects. Animal Products: Dairy and meat from animals treated with estrogenic hormones. Xenoestrogens in Clothing- Flame Retardants (e.g., Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers – PBDEs): Applied to textiles like pajamas, upholstery, and carpets to meet fire safety standards and PFAS: Used in water- or stain-resistant clothing (e.g., Gore-Tex, outdoor gear, or “easy-care” fabrics). Phthalates: Found in synthetic fabrics (e.g., polyester, PVC-based prints) or as softeners in plastic coatings on clothing (e.g., raincoats, faux leather). These chemicals are absorbed through the skin or inhaled from off-gassing plastics, especially in new clothing or accessories. Azo Dyes and other textile dyes: Synthetic dyes in colorful clothing, especially low-cost fast fashion. Nonylphenol Ethoxylates (NPEs): Surfactants in textile washing, dyeing, or finishing processes.

Choose safer clothing -organic cotton, linen, or wool, which are less likely to contain synthetic treatments and allow the skin to breathe. Look for certifications like GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) or OEKO-TEX, which limit harmful chemicals. Wash new clothes before wearing to remove residual dyes, NPEs, or finishes. Use eco-friendly detergents or just Borax. Avoid treated fabrics like “stain-resistant,” “water-repellent,” or “flame-retardant” claims, which often indicate PFAS or PBDEs. Ecocult has a list of clothing brands with less toxic chemicals placed during manufacturing. Clothing made in the EU has more restrictions on toxic manufacturing chemicals than other countries. Fast fashion from the Far East often has higher chemical loads since there are no restrictions on chemicals placed on clothing.

keep windows open a bit for air flow year round (unless you live in a very polluted place, and then get specific air cleaning indoor plants and ventilation system)

Signs of ovulation on the female body

A woman can become pregnant during her fertile window, which typically spans about 6 days per menstrual cycle. This includes the day of ovulation and the 5 days before it, as sperm can survive in the female reproductive tract for up to 5 days, and the egg is viable for about 12-24 hours after ovulation.

Fertility Awareness Method (FAM) teaches the 3 obvious signs of ovulation on the body. This information is used to try to become pregnant or to prevent pregnancy. Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Tony Wechsler and The Fifth Vital Sign by Lisa Hendrickson are both great books on this topic.

Declining sperm counts

Sperm counts have declined significantly over the past 30 years. A 2017, sperm concentration in Western countries dropped by about 52.4% and total sperm count by 59.3% between 1973 and 2011. Average sperm concentration fell from around 101.2 million per mL in 1973 to 49.0 million per mL in 2018, still above the 40 million per mL threshold for normal fertility, but the trend is concerning because if the causes aren’t addressed, the decline can get worse and cause serious fertility concerns in the next generation. Causes are lifestyle factors (obesity, poor diet, smoking), environmental exposures (endocrine-disrupting chemicals, pesticides), and stress.

Environmental exposures that are declining sperm count culprits are the pesticides in food, emf radiation from cell phone/laptop, silver dental fillings, plastics in food, and endocrine disrupting chemicals in personal and home products

Vitex agnus-cautus (chaste tree) flowers, an herb that has been used for menstrual concerns since ancient times.

Vitex promotes regular ovulation, lengthens the luteal phase, reduces prolactin levels and supports hormonal balance in PCOS and endometriosis. Vitex can stabilize irregular cycles by supporting the pituitary-ovarian feedback loop.
