How to have Better Skin

Herbs for skin

Acne is caused many times when the body’s primary organs of detox (bowels, lymph, liver) are overburdened and the skin which is the secondary pathway for detox is bearing an excess burden. There are herbs that can help detox the liver, stimulate the lymph and clear the bowels which will then help the skin clear itself. Burdock root used internally and topically helps detox the liver and can be used for many skin ailments. Calendula and chamomile are used internally and topically. Chamomile helps reduce inflammation and calendula helps the lymph and liver elimination systems. Flaxseed and psyllium husk can be used for bowel constipation. Dandelion root is a liver tonic and helps elimination. Tea tree and witch hazel can be used topically for antifungal/antibacterial activity and for reducing inflammation, respectively.

Burdock root has been uses traditionally for treatment in many skin ailments like boils, sores and abscesses.

More causes of skin issues

Stress can cause skin eruptions. It is important to learn practical life tools to handle stress and to do whatever is within one’s power to remove sources of stress. Herbs that help the body handle stress are ashwagandha, lemon balm and skullcap.
Hormonal imbalance can cause skin issues. Balancing hormones means not using commercial body products since they are all mostly endocrine disruptors, doing a heavy metal detox since heavy metals disturb the endocrine system and only eating unprocessed organic food. Glyphosate, the herbicide sprayed on nonorganic food, causes many serious health issues, in addition to disturbing the endocrine system. Eating fermented vegetables, which are live probiotic food, and taking chlorella (an algae) will help the body detox which will rebalance the endocrine system.

Face Cleanser to use

A healthy face soap consists of a simple Castile bar of soap with activated charcoal as a detox in it. Also, matcha green tea is full of antioxidants and makes a nice face mask. To apply, wet the face with water, apply the dry green powder and it will stick to the wet skin, and after a few minutes, just rinse it off. Commercial face cleansing products are a blend of carcinogens and endocrine disruptors. Prescription dermatology creams have serious side effects which are listed in the drug paper insert or online. They do not heal the skin at the root cause. Plain cold pressed organic coconut oil can be use as moisturizer for dry skin.

What a person eats has everything to do with skin health.

Please see the ‘what to eat’ section on the website to learn more. Eat only organic produce, grains, nuts and seeds, grass fed meat, Stay away from processed foods, processed dairy, sugar, fake sugar, vegetable and seed oils, canola oil, margarine, and other trans fats like hydrogenated oil in processed foods.
For radiant skin, eating yellow, red and orange fruits and vegetables both cooked and raw will help the skin glow. Carotenoids are yellow, orange, and red nutrients that are found in many fruits and vegetables. Researchers have found that consuming them, even just for 6 weeks, can improve your skin’s appearance.

Some basics

Exercise daily by doing a brisk walk of minimum 1-2 miles.
Get enough sleep.
Don’t use sunscreen which is full of carcinogens and is ineffective for blocking out the sun. The sun is healing. Just stay out of midday sun by wearing a sunhat. Coconut oil can be used for some sun protection, but the sun is way too powerful to block out with any product. Your skin will tell you when the sun is too strong and you are getting burnt. The sun helps a person metabolize key nutrients and sun exposure is vital for physical and mental health. The sun does not cause skin cancer. Eating unhealthy food and a build up of toxins causes cancer. Exposure to radiation causes cancer. The sun has been used as a tool for healing all diseases since the beginning of time.
Don’t use tanning beds or sunlamps. They destroy the skin and are carcinogenic.
Don’t smoke. Smoking damages collagen and elastin, the fibers that give the skin strength and elasticity.
